ARK is committed to educating the American people
and the world about the realities of life in Kashmir,
the origins of the conflict, and the reasons it has
not been resolved despite 56 years of strife and repression.
The United States is the world's only superpower,
and maintains its friendship with all parties involved
in the Kashmir conflict. The U.S. is therefore the
most logical candidate to exert proper and sufficient
influence on these parties to justly resolve the
Kashmir conflict and thereby eliminate it as a nuclear
flashpoint and a catalyst for terrorism both in
South Asia and around the world.
ARK is raising awareness of the importance of Kashmir
to the global war on terrorism and to nuclear non-proliferation
by bringing the truth about what is happening in
Kashmir to the American people. By so doing, pressure
can be brought to bear on elected U.S. officials
to reject the standing paradigm of U.S. non-involvement
with Kashmir, and engage the issue as one vital
to America's security and economic interests.
ARK has met personally with many of the officials
of the government of Pakistan, including President
Musharraf, both in the U.S. and in Pakistan. We
have also met many of the officials in the Azad
government of Kashmir, including the Prime Minister,
President, and Speaker of the House, toured the
Line of Control, visited refugee camps and hospitals,
and engaged everyday Kashmiris in their shops, in
the streets of Muzaffarabad, Chikote, and several
other small towns in Kashmir - at our
own expense. In all cases, we discussed at length
the history, current status, and future prospects
for regarding resolution of the Kashmir conflict.
Three letters have been written to the Embassy
of India in Washington, DC seeking access to Indian-occupied
Kashmir. After 6 months, there has been no response
of any kind to our inquiries.
We have appeared in various printed U.S. and world
media, on numerous radio programs, and on television
both in the U.S. and abroad. Our ongoing educational
efforts include television and radio appearances,
lectures at schools and colleges, and correspondence
with elected officials in the U.S. A documentary
on our trip to Pakistan and Azad Kashmir is under
development, and we are also developing a DVD as
a medium to bring the realities of Kashmir and its
relevance to U.S. security and economic interests
to the American people.
Be sure to check "ARK's News and Activities"
to keep abreast of our scheduled appearances at
events and in the media.
